Programme Coordinator



Sajjata Sangh is a network of NGOs working on the theme of Natural Resource Management and Agriculture based livelihoods. The primary goal of the Sangh is to increase the productivity of natural resources, which in turn would contribute towards the economic growth of the village and in enhancing the livelihoods of the farmers. Currently, the Sangh has 32 NGOs associated with it as network partners. Sajjata Sangh also anchors a consortium of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) working in the state of Gujarat

We are looking to fill a senior level full time position of ‘Programme Coordinator’. Following is expected from the candidate:

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU:

  • The ability to think through and come up with simpler and innovative ways to work with and effectively engage with partner organization.
  • Ability to scan and introduce innovations (technologies, products or process innovations) in the field with the support of partner organizations.
  • Evolve, develop and execute revenue models based on the Sangh’s and its partner’s interventions with the farmers in the NRM and agriculture sector.
  • To research analyze and evaluate the competitive market environment of some of the flagship programmes/initiatives undertaken and planned by the Sangh and strategize accordingly.
  • The Passion to bring about change in the lives of marginalized communities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing all the programmes of Sajjata Sangh and would provide the direction and guidance in tune with Sajjata Sangh’s vision and mission.
  • To plan, execute and manage various programs and extension initiative of the Sajjata Sangh
  • Develop a capacity building plan for the Sangh in consultation with experts.
  • Support in developing training and extension/IEC material in English and in local language
  • Training of FPO and NGO staff, board members and other stakeholders associated with these forms of organizations.
  • Provide handholding support to FPOs and NGOs engaged in FPO promotion.
  • Organize workshops/seminars and independently handle specific tasks assigned under CB programs.
  • Research and develop programme for intervention on the theme of Sustainable Agriculture / Organic farming.
  • Represent the network in state and national forums as and when require.
  • To prepare project proposal and approach funding agencies for financial assistance for the Sajjata Sangh.
  • Take responsibility for and deliver specific requirements in teams.
  • Spend significant amount of time in field on need basis.
  • To prepare reports, presentations and other required documents based on requirement.
  • Periodic reporting.

You will also be required to:

  1. Support in forming Advisory Committee and Core Committee of the state level federation of FPOs formed by the Sangh, prepare the work plan, implementation of the work plan & mid-term review.
  2. Support in organizing Meetings, Seminars, Workshops and Annual Conferences on relevant themes.
  3. Do all that is required by the reporting authority in order to fulfill the objects of promoting and strengthening FPOs in Gujarat.

REPORTING TO: Executive Director

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE: QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Gradation/PG in Agriculture/ Horticulture, agribusiness with minimum 5-7 years experience OR PG in any other discipline with minimum 5-7 years relevant experience in the areas agribusiness, formation and strengthening of FPOs, and related group based enterprise development activities
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in agriculture extension and work related to formation and strengthening of Farmer Producer Organizations.
  • Good creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills.
  • Ability to network with key stakeholders
  • Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
  • Knowledge of Gujarati Typing (optional)
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Willingness to undertake outstation travel/overnight travel for the purpose of work
  • Excellent time management skills, multi-task abilities and work prioritization.
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

LOCATION: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

LANGUAGE: Knowledge of Gujarati and English language
